Better Licence Verification

Discussion in 'Suggestions' started by EditHosts85, Aug 26, 2017.

  1. Alright. I thought i'd bring this up again, because the issue is still around, and it's quite annoying.

My suggestion is that the licence verification gets changed to a much better method used by almost all programs, which is that the program automatically runs in lite mode if a key is not specified, and only makes a request from the server if a key has been entered.

I don't see how this could lower security, since "pirating" a free program isn't piracy. If it's the analytics you're after (i.e. tracking use of the program), try setting it so that if using a lite licence, it makes a request to the server, but won't prevent the server starting if that request is not answered/gives an error.

Once again, although I have a workaround that is functioning for the time being, it is a real pain to use, and would really make the server easier to use.
